Big or small, Fire safety is for all.

Although wildfires are a natural occurrence within some forest ecosystems, fire seasons are becoming more extreme and widespread, even in tropical rainforests where fires are atypical and particularly damaging. Hotter, drier weather caused by climate change and poor land management create conditions favorable for more frequent, larger and higher- intensity  wildfires. From 2013 to 2022, there were an average of 61,410 wildfires annually and an average of 7.2 million acres impacted annually. In 2022, 68,988 wildfires burned 7.6 million acres. Over 40% of those acres were in Alaska (3.1 million acres). As of February 24, 2023, around 3,500 wildfires have impacted 28,700 acres this year.

Stop the forest fire before it’s too late.

Turkey-based technology company develop IoT products and services, operating in the field of Internet of Things (IoT) technologies. Forest Capsule was developed in 2020 for conventional wildfire early detection in real-time. Not only for early fire detection with the help of AI algorithms, also can notice fire risk depending on sensors data. Forest Capsule detects and notifies the wildfire with the exact GPS location before it grows. Estimates the risk of fire before the fire starts with the help of built-in sensors and embedded AI layer. Collects environmental data and shares free with non-profits, universities, and independent scientists, for climate change and global warming research. Another significant feature of the forest capsule is its satellite connection ability. The forest capsule is capable of operating all over the world, thanks to its satellite connection, in areas where no other type of connection is available

We have a solition to protect the forests

System Topology

LEVEL 1 (Sensor Capsule)

Includes capsule Hardware, Firmware and Mechanical design phases.

Starts with report with the following Design FMEA documentation to release success level and risks of the project. Goes on with selecting Ultra Low Power component on HW design. Mechanical opportunities releases then sensor locations determines according to case/box design. After releasing mechanical details, next phase is designing a prototype PCB. While board is in production, Firmware development starts with the Ultra-Low Power enviroments. Bootloader feature is also important think to make firmware changes on field thats why need to develop it with the Firmware. After some PoC on the field, some alerts setted with self-prediction algorithms. After all power consumption, communication, EMC/EMI, IP, durability and climate tests, Capsule will be ready to finish.

LEVEL 2 (Station)

This is a Self-Powered system(Solar System). One of the biggest component is battery must be determined as a capacity to supply system power without any interrupt. LoraWAN Gateways are plug&play, so this is not a big challange. There is a miniPC which has pre-installed Network Server to manage LPWAN Network and also have some features to group sensors dynamically to make some predictions with the machine learning algorithms. Satellite communication interface driver development and tests are important to make this system alive. Anomally detections and some other alerts will be specified in alghorithms to send immediate alets to the satellite side.

LEVEL 3 (Server)

Broker side works over always Requests from inmarsat API and Services gets all recieved data and converts them to information with parsing algorithms. Some informations are must be persistent, they were sent to DB to store. Other beneficial informations were processed in sercives to serve them as an statistics or alerting issues. There is also a platform development for the customer side. This is a web based application to reach all logs, statistics an immadiate data which related to devices and gives ideas about the field.

Device Grouping

  • 4,3 square kilometers total area for each station
  • 96 Device 1 Gateway
  • 8 Groups of 12 devices
  • Each group covered an average of 0.54 square kilometers.
  • Up to 6 Capsule messages per hour
  • Immediate Alert messages from capsules thruogh Server.
  • Compressed and secured communication over the satellite
  • Gateway optimizes group data to send a summary of an area

Benefits

Early detection of fires and alerting emergency response actions.

Satellite connection ability to service all around the world.

The temperature and range of CO2 gas data that the sensors collect are made available as an open source for researchers who study climate change etc.

Reduction of on-site operations
